Grizzled skippers are difficult to identify at the best of times. The Carline skipper has two distinct forms which as an added complication. The top picture is of the nominate form and was seen in the lower woods near Évolène. The stronger marked lower picture is of form Cirsii and was seen in Provence, at about 900m in the Luberon Parc Naturel. |
