Mallow skipper - Carcharodus alceae
![]() |
Family: Hesperiidae. Flight Time: April-October. Size: 26-34mm Altitude: 0-2000m |
I've seen Mallow skipper a couple of times in NW France, both times at the start of August and also both times at the coast. First in Camaret near Brest and also on the coast near Binic further to the east.
Common over most of Europe, this photo was taken in Turunc SW Turkey in April 1995. There is an indistinguishable cousin, the False mallow skipper, see below!.
