Pearly heath - Coenonympha arcania
![]() |
Family: Satyridae Flight Time: May - August Size: 34-40mm Altitude: 50-1800m |
There are a number of 'Heaths' in Europe the big white area is characteristic for
this one. Like other species of the genus Coenonympha they always settle
with their wings closed. Identification is usually reasonably easy, the only
possible confusion for this one is with Darwin's heath, Coenonympha darwiniana.
