Great banded grayling - Kanetisa circe
![]() |
Family: Satyridae Flight Time: June - September Size: 66-80mm Altitude: 0-1650m |
| A large species, recognisable in flight by the large white band across the wings. They are very sensitive and immediately take off and fly high into trees when approached. While camping in Provence this one settled early one morning in a tree above our tent. The presence of an inner white patch helps identification. | |
