Notes:
Both photographs were taken in Brittany in the summer of 1997, the top one in near Redon and the lower on Belle Isle. The shape of the hindwing is characteristic, as are the large silver spots, see left. Quite a powerful migrant this species occasionally reaches the UK. There is even evidence of a permanent colony surviving in eastern England.
