Chalk-hill blue - Lysandra coridon
|
Family: Lycaenidae. Flight Time: June - October. Size: 30-36mm Altitude: 100-2000m |
| Notes: The Chalk-hill blue has a limited range in the UK but is often very numerous. More widespread in Europe there are however a large number of subspecies and also closely related species which can make identification rather tricky. See Lysandra ?

| The female is brown, but has strongly
chequered fringes and cell marks on the upperside. Quite hard to tell apart
from a female Adonis blue, Lysandra bellargus. Below is one of each, a mating pair. |
